This page provides information and listings of some of the most popular restaurants in Puerto Banus from exclusive restaurants on the front line of Puerto Banus to those located a short stroll from the marina. During the summer it is highly recommended that you reserve a table at least 2 days in advance. Being food lovers here at Get Spain Costa del Sol, if we have eaten in any of the restaurants in Puerto Banus listed on this page we will provide a brief review.

Puerto Banus Restaurant of the Month

La Sala Puerto Banus – A brand new restaurant just launched in Puerto Banus (October 2010) is the amazing La Sala Restaurant & Bar. It is located on the road that leads up to Centro Plaza Nueva Andalucia and is set to be one of the best restaurants in the area. It has been very much styled in a trendy London brassiere look with outside decking to the front, a stylish bar and lounge area, a main restaurant area complete with two semi-circular booths at the top and an outside patio area.

There is a comprehensive breakfast menu, an all day food menu and of course an a la carte menu. The food available is simply stunning with all your favourite dishes on offer and at very good prices.

Breakfast Examples: Cumberland sausage sandwich – 4.50€, Two boiled eggs with toast soldiers – 4.00€, Eggs Benedict 6.00€ and lots more…

All Day Menu Examples: Salt & pepper calamari – 8.00€, Homemade burger with bacon, cheese and fries – 12.50€, Deep fried praw batter cod with mushy minted peas, chips and tartar sauce – 14.00€

A La Carte Examples: Spaghetti Vongole, prawns, clams, garlic, chilli and tomato – 18.00€, Honey glazed breast of duck and parmesan polenta – 18.50€

Review of La Sala Puerto Banus: We took some good advice and booked a table for lunch (and were glad we did as it was very busy). Upon arrival we were escorted to our table, a lovely semi-circular ’booth’ style table at the top of the restaurant. We asked if it were possible to mix and match from the all day and a la carte and were told of course, so we had a look through both menus (you cannot do this on the front patio as it is the all day menu area). Straight away we were amazed at the ample choice of food available and we knew that it was going to be hard to choose as it all sounded so good. We were offered drinks so we opted for a glass of house premium white and house premuim red, both very palatable. After much debate we decided to share the Almond crusted deep fried brie with red currant & orange sauce. Then I had deep fried cod (as described above) and my wife opted for the Californian wrap with a side order of roasted Mediterranean vegetables.

Before the food arrived we took a good look around and we have to say it was one of the buzziest restaurants we had been to in a very long time. There were people in the bar / lounge area just having a drink, people eating on the front patio area, lots in the main restaurant and even some outside on the back terrace. The staff were very attentive but not too much so the balance seemed about right. We took the time to have a quick look through the wine menu too and were pleasantly surprised at the range and prices. A typical guide is to see how much they charge for something like a Marques de Caceres crianza (19.00€) or a Pesquera crianza (29.00€) both of which were very well priced. (I have paid 22.00€ plus in a basic Indian for Marques de Caceres crianza). Of course there is a selection of fine wines and Champagnes to choose from as well.

The starter arrived and the portion was very generous. The taste was simply amazing and the sauce was very different and complimented the fried brie perectly. After just about the right amount of time our main courses arrived. I had eaten fried cod and chips the week before in an upmarket restaurant in Gibraltar so I had something to compare to, but there simply was no comparison. The La Sala version was far superior and far tastier (and cheaper I might add). My wifes wrap was stuffed with avocado, chicken and salad and it was due to come with another generous portion of chips (which we asked them not to bring as the ones with my cod were easily enough for two).

All in all La Sala Restarant in Puerto Banus was excellent. We had 3 glasses of premuium wine each, a bottle of still water, deep fried brie, cod and chips, chicken wrap, side dish of Mediterranean vegetables and a white coffee – total bill came to 62€ which is much lower than many restaurants we have been to lately for far more food.

American Restaurants Puerto Banus

Jacks -  A casual American style restaurant open daily for lunch and dinner. Telephone 952 813 625

A review of Jacks in Puerto Banus: It is hard to believe but having lived here for nearly six years I had never eaten at Jacks American Bistro, until the summer of 2008 that was. My family were on a visit including my sister, my young nephew and young niece. With the heat beating down on our necks at the end of July Jacks suddenley became very appealing, especially with two young kids in tow. What a great choice! The attentive waiter helped keep the kids amused with his joke playing as well as a crayon set and the childrens menu went down a treat. We all enjoyed our tex mex style food too and to make things even better we were given a bag of stale bread so the kids could have another 20 minutes of fun feeding the fish in the port after our meal. For fine dining Jacks is not for you but for a great place to take the kids to eat then we highly recommend Jacks.

TGI Fridays (Puerto Banus) - Part of the popular American chain this restaurant has the same menu as its other locations throughout the world. A great choice for families with children. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Telephone 952 815 993.

HARD ROCK CAFÉ MARBELLA – Well I suppose that really puts Puerto Banus on the map with the Hard Rock Café opening. It is located directly opposite the main entrance to El Corte Ingles (the large department store). It has the same menu as all Hard Rock Cafés such as hickory smoked bbq ribs and their 10oz Burgers. Address: Calle Romon Areces s/n, Esquina Marina Banus – Telephone: 0034 952 908 024 (You cannot book tables in advance)

Review of Hard Rock Cafe Marbella (Puerto Banus): After a couple of hours shopping in El Corte Ingles we were more than ready to devour some tasty food so we headed over to the new Hard Rock Cafe Marbella. We were welcomed by two very pleasant waitresses and shown to our table. The menus were the same as you would get in any Hard Rock Cafe so I went for the Hickory Smoked BBQ Ribs (15€) while my wife opted for the special 10oz Burger (13€) topped with bacon, cheese and onions. We also had a glass of wine each (5.50€ per glass although there was the house at 3.50€ per glass). In an adequate time period our food arrived and it was a true american meal, the portions were HUGE. The ribs were a full rack and just about fitted on the plate. It came with fries, a tub of bbq beans and a tub of coleslaw. The burger was topped with cheese, bacon, onios and came with fries. We also has a side salad which came with croutons, cranberries and crunchy lettuce (4.50€) Well the food at the Hard Rock Cafe Marbella (Puerto Banus) was fabulous and the service was good. I have never been so full up after just one course before and we though it was excellent value for money, especailly if you are in a group as you could order a few dishes and share quite easily. We didn’t have a pudding but again the size of the bowls they came in were just huge. I would recommend this restuarant. It is not gourmet food and not authentic Spanish but if you want a fun night with lots of yummy food it is an ideal choice. Our total bill was just 51€ which was for 1 x hickory smoked bbq ribs, 1 x 10oz burger, 1 x side salad, 3 glasses of the more expensive red wine, 1 bottle of water and a coffee. Addition: After a superb meal at the fusion tapas / sushi restaurant Lamoraga in Puerto Banus, even though we were all very full up we ended up back at Hard Rock and had their rich chocolate brownie puddings. Well these are simply huge and packed with lashings of fudge brownies, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. One is plenty big enough for two (or more) people to share and at 7.50 euros they are excellent value for money.

Spanish Restaurants Puerto Banus

Lamoraga – Its full name is Lamoraga Iberica and it is a modern and extremely trendy Tapas / Sushi fusion restaurant located directly opposite the main entrance to el Corte Ingles in Puerto Banus. There are some amazing dishes on the menu such as the famous ‘Pig Burger’, a very rich but beautiful mini burger. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Telephone 952 817 448.

Review of Lamoraga Iberico Puerto Banus: Four of us went to Lamoraga for Sunday lunch and we were very pleased with our choice. You cannot book this restaurant and even though we arrived at around 14.45 it was still packed and we had a 30 minute wait for a table. The first thing you notice when you enter is the long ‘sushi’ style bar in the middle complete with large ice buckets full of wine and Champagne with wafts of dry ice spreading across the bar. La Moaraga is both stylish and comfortable and within 30 minute we were seated and given the menus. The choice of food was good and there was a real fusion style. We opted for the marinated scallops (which were simply amazing), croquetas, cod fritters and pigs cheek (a delicacy but delicious). Then we had pig burgers, eggs flamenca, russian salada (ensaladilla rusa) and lots of other bits which totally filled us up beyond belief. The portions were very generous and when we received the bill we were even more surprised. Normally with the amount we ate and the type of food we would have expected a bill well over 120 euros, instead we had an 85 euro bill. The drinks were very cheap with a large beer costing just 2.50, a good glass of wine 2.00 euros and even a glass of Moet Champagne was just 7.50 euros. We highly recommend that restaurant as it offers both value for money as well as a buzzy and trendy atmosphere, not to mention excellent food.
