Malaga Chemical Spillage
A chemical was split at the El Viso industrial estate in Malaga although it was confirmed that no toxic cloud was produced and there was no danger to local residents. Around 70 litres of the chemical was spilt and the fire service was called to deal with the incident
RENFE High Speed Link - Malaga
News is awaited subsequent to a cabinet meeting to approve work on the last section of the AVE high speed rail network on the underground section approaching Malaga. Upon approval the construction is due to start towards the end of next year and will add another dimension to travelling to the Costa del Sol.
Marbella Motorway
The ARST (Association of Residential and Spaorts Tourism) in Andalucia is supporting the group of Marbella associates who are lobbying for the planned tool road (AP7) to be moved a greater distance inland. They are worried about a number of environment issues including the possible damage to the foothills of the Sierra Blanca mountain range if it continues along it's existing planned route.
Drought Measures in Mijas
The townhall in Mijas has announced a nukmber of anti drought measures with the purpose of guaranteeing the water supply in the future. All golf courses, streets and gardens, public or municipal will have to use recycled water. Another measure set to be applied will include the banning of car washes and filling swimming pools with mains drinking water.
Support For Hospital Name Change
The Junta de Andalucia expressed its backing for changing the name of the Carlos Haya Malaga hospital. The proposed name is to be the Bla Infnante after the gentelman who is locally considered to be the father of Andalucia. The current name, Carlos de Haya was named after a Spanish soldier and inventor. The Malaga health council will later vote on the proposal before agreeing to the name change.
